Why should do CT Scan of knee joint?

    A computed tomography (CT) scan is a type of x-ray that show cross-section images of a specific area on our body. Ct scan provides more details images inside the body part.


What can show CT knee joint 2d?

      A CT show the muscles, tendons, ligament, vessels’, and bone that make up your knee joint.

 

Anatomy of the knee joint.

   The knee consists of three bones. Femur the upper leg bone or thigh one tibia- the bone are front of the lower leg. Patella- the bone are thick and triangular shape are located front of the knee in known as a knee cap.

Types of muscles in knee joint?

 

Quadriceps femoris:- strong extensor of the knee.

Semitendinosus:- flexor and internal rotate of the knee.

Semimembranosus:- flexor internal rotate of the knee.

Gracious:- flexor and internal rotate of the knee.

Stertorous:- flexor and internal rotate of the knee.

Popliteus:- Flexor and inner rotate of the knee. prevent the femor from slipping forwards at the tibia throughout squatting.

Tensor fasciae latté:-weak extensor when knee is extended. Susceptible flexor and external rotator of the knee in flexion greater than 30.

Gastrocnemius:- weak flexor of the knee. Susceptible internal and external rotator of the knee. strong plant flexor and invetor of the heel.

Biceps memories:- strong flexor and external rotator of the knee.

Tendons and ligaments:- there are four types of ligaments.

ACL:-  Anterior cruciate ligament this ligament is inside the middle of the knee. It control rotation and forward movement of the shin bone.

PCL:- posterior cruciate ligament this ligament is in the back of the knee. It controls the backward motion of the shin bone.

MCL:- medial collateral ligament this ligament give stability in the inner knee.

LCL:- lateral collateral ligament this ligament give stability in the outer knee.

When do CT scan knee joint?

    Is any injury related knee or RTA (Road traffic accident) knee swelling, this any singe than do knee CT scan.

 

Who is not eligible for do CT scan?

     Not everyone should have a CT scan. While the scan are relatively benign, they do expose you to radiation. The changes of developing cancer from one CT scan. Pregnant women who needed abdominal imaging may risk exposing their unborn child to radiation during a CT scan. If you are pregnant discuss your concerns about the risks of radiation from a CT scan with your physician.
